#####
# This is a bit different than the versions already in olga (for
# starters, it's in ChordPro format so it can be printed in that nice
# postscript format).
#
# I've also interpreted the Refrain and the Bridge a bit differently,
# and I think more accurately. Check the 'Notes' section at the end of
# the song for more info.
#
# I used the live version off of 'Rock Spectacle' as a reference, but I
# don't think it and the original differ at all.

GDCadd9Cadd9
Broke into the old apartment.
GDCaCadd9
This is where we used to live.
GDCadd9Cadd9
Broken glass, broke and hungry, broken hearts and
broken bones.
GDCaCadd9
This is where we used to live.
EmDC
Why did you paint the walls?
EmDC
Why did you clean the floor?
EmDCD
Why did you plaster over the hole I punched in the
GDCaCadd9
door? This is where we used to live.
GDCadd9D
Why did you keep the mousetrap, why did you keep the
GDCadd9
dishrack? These things used to be mine, I guess they still
D
are, I want 'm back.
GDCadd9Cadd9
Broke into the old apartment.
GDCadCadd9
Forty-two stairs from the street.
GDCadd9Cadd9
Crooked landing, crooked landlord, narrow landway
filled with
GDCaCadd9
crooks. This is where we used to live.
EmDC
Why did they pave the lawn?
EmDC
Why did they change the locks?
EmDCD
Why did I have to break it, I only came here to
GDCaCadd9
talk. This is where we used to live.
GDCadd9D
How is the neighbor downstairs? How is her temper
GDCadd9
this year? I turned up your tv and stomped on the floor
D
just for fun.
EmDGC
I know we don't live here anymore.
CDGC
We bought an old house on the danforth.
EmDGC
She loves me and her body keeps me warm;
CD
(and) I'm happy
GDCaCadd9
here. But this is where we used to live.
GDCadd9Cadd9
Broke into the old apartment.
GDCadCadd9
Tore the phone out of the wall.
GDCadd9Cadd9
Only memories, fading memories blending into dull
GDCadd9Cadd9
tableaux. I want them back. (This is where we
used to live)
GDCadd9Cadd9
I want them back. (This is where we used to live)
GDCadd9Cadd9
I want them back. (This is where we used to live)
GDCadd9
I want them back.
NOTES
Verse:
The verse chords are downstrokes on the first two beats of each
measure.
Refrain:
The first 10 measures are picked (through the third D chord), then
it starts strumming leading up to the G which is played like the
verse. The G D Cadd9 D sequence is then strummed.
Also in the refrain: on the CD I have, they almost seem to let the
Em chord ring out over the D, so you could probably just play the
Em chord for the first measure and let it ring until the C chord
of actually playing the D.
Bridge:
The bridge is picked like the refrain, one chord per measure. Note
that it is only 14 measures long, however.
Ending:
The 'I want them back' section is picked
